How your recipient's downloads are counted
Every file in a delivery has its own download count. By default, your recipient can download each file 3 times, with no time limit. Let's take a look at how we count them, and what your recipient sees as they use them.
What your recipient sees
Beside each file's "Download" button, their download page shows how many downloads they have left and, if you've set a time limit, how long they have:

A file with unlimited downloads and no time limit shows neither.
When a download counts
A download counts the moment your recipient clicks "Download", and the number beside the button goes down straight away. It counts even if they then cancel their browser's save window, so a recipient who says they've run out may have clicked more times than they saved.
After each click, the button will say "Processing download…" for a few seconds and can't be used again in that time:

This helps prevent double thumbing the download link on a mobile device or smashing the download button and using all the download attempts in one go.
When the time limit starts
A time limit starts when we send the delivery, not when your recipient first opens it. A 30-day time limit on a delivery sent today closes 30 days from today, whether they download straight away or not.
Changing a limit after you've sent
Each delivery keeps the limits its files had when it was sent. If you change a file's download limit or time limit later, the new limit applies to the deliveries you send from then on.
To give a recipient more downloads or more time on a delivery you've already sent, reset their downloads on the delivery itself. Controlling access to a delivery shows you how.
You set a file's download limit and time limit in its Content security card. See Uploading your content.
